There is such a stigma attached to loss of bladder control and the shame of it is that there is almost always something that can be done. It is not discussed openly among sufferers, and as a result there are a lot of myths surrounding the problem.

Because many women incorrectly view Light Bladder Leakage (LBL) as a taboo subject, there are myths and old wives tales surrounding it. Here are some of the most popular myths debunked:

It’s normal to leak a little when I sneeze – bladder leakage is not normal or inevitable. The majority of women who seek solutions for their problems find themselves completely cured.

It only happens to old people – almost half the people who suffer from LBL are under 40

Surgery is the best option – in many cases surgery is the last option, less invasive treatments are recommended first, if all else fails then surgery can be considered

None of my friends suffer from it – almost 1 in 3 females older than 35 suffer from LBL so you definitely aren’t alone in being affected by this problem

LBL can be bothersome when it’s new to you. Luckily, when treated correctly, and with the right products, you can confront LBL and banish your fears. It’s much more stressful to ignore it.
